So when you create a Facebook business page, they give you an address that contains your business name along with tons of numbers. It looks something like this, http://www.facebook.com/pages/thatgirlshelley/168090353261321. Did you know that you could customize your direct link (thus create a vanity URL)? It makes it easier for your followers to find your page.

If you are wondering how it is done, read below to get the quick and easy steps.

Steps to Creating a Facebook Vanity URL

1.  Login to Facebook under your administrator account for your business page.

2.  Go to your Facebook business page.

3. Click on the 'Edit Page' tab located at the top, left of the page. In the pull down, click 'Update Public Info'.

4. Click on the 'Basic Information' tab located on the left side of the screen.

5. Locate the 'Username' section and click on 'Change username'.

6.  In the edit box, type in your business name (make sure that you do not include any spaces and any capitals).

You just updated your Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest pages. You have socialized with your fans on your Facebook page and you have tweeted with your Twitter followers. You have checked email and sent back responses. Then you get a ding and you go to check your email again. You are moving extremely fast today and being very productive or so you think. You sit back and reflect on how much you were able to accomplish and you realize that you have spent too much time updating, chatting, googling and not enough time producing.

I get caught in the technology trap too (almost daily). I start out with a plan an then hours later, I realize that I stayed online too long or that I have started googling things that have nothing to do with what I have planned for the day.

I think sometimes everyone justs needs a technology detox. I don't think that I would be able to go a day without technology but I will start setting 'No Technology' time in my schedule. I think the time that I am not online, watching television, checking my phone, or looking at email will give me a chance to listen to my inner creative self. It will give me a chance to work without noise and distraction.

I am going to give it a try. What about you? Are you addicted to technology? How much would be able to accomplish if you just unplugged?

I have been extremely busy lately (which is absolutely a great thing). I just need to set realistic timelines and completion dates so that I am not stretched too thin. This is also why I have not posted a blog post in awhile. I am going to try to post the rest of the week (fingers crossed).

I woke up this morning to bright sun and a saddened heart for those in Boston. When tragedy happens, it makes you realize that you should live each day to the fullest. You just never know. Putting off things until the perfect time may never come and so you have to aim to do what you love today. 

Do What You Love

Starting a business is about truly waking up each day doing what you have a passion for...what you love. They say 'if you love what you do, it never feels like work'. I think this is true. You don't have to start big but take steps and have a plan. Start by creating a name and purchasing the URL. Let people know (even if it is coming soon) through social media outlets.

Appreciate Your Success

You should take the time to pat yourself on the back. Where others have talked about starting a business, you actually started. You are making moves and big strides. You are making it a reality and not just an idea. Someone on Twitter recently said that 'God gave you 2 hands so that you could give yourself a high five'. I read that, smiled, and then gave myself a high five. You should try it.

Live!

We tend to take things for granted. The Boston tragedy brings you back to the realization that you can not take anything for granted. You have to Live. Love. Prosper. Be Grateful. Just Be!
